Job Title: Visitor Center / Museum Guide and Information Specialist

Job Type: Part Time / Non-union / Position may work up to 19 hours / week, including weekends.
Job Description: We are looking for people interested in working directly with the public. Historical knowledge of Oregon and the Oregon Trail is helpful, but will also be part of the training.
Duties would include but not be limited to:
-Cashier/Sales-Answering questions, and providing information on tourist attractions in Clackamas County, and Oregon City, specifically
-Answering Phones-Greeting guests, and explaining the site layout
-Answering questions, and providing information on the Oregon Trail.
-Guiding guests through the museum.
-Operating the projector for movies and presentations in both the main and auxiliary theatre spaces.
-Supervision of guests to ensure the safety of both the guest and the preservation of the site.
-Assisting guests with hands-on stations such as Packing the Wagon and Candle Dipping
-Working with groups by giving presentations or leading group activities
Essential Functions: Provide a warm friendly welcome to all visitors on site. Promptly answer questions and assist visitors in order to enrich their visit. Maintain and organize supplies and work areas in a clean and orderly manner. Some cleaning and stocking duties, as needed.
Required Qualifications: No experience needed. A passion for history, education and people is a benefit. Customer service, teamwork, communication skills, a positive attitude, the ability to focus in chaotic situations, flexibility, and grace are all qualities that will enable you to enjoy this employment opportunity.

HolidayGala037Our volunteers share directly in the mission of Historic Oregon City, serving visitors and the local community at our various sites. They are involved in a range of activities that seek to preserve our heritage, educate the public and interpret the history of the Oregon Territory, Clackamas County, and Oregon City, the western terminus of the Oregon Trail. As a volunteer, you can help in the visitor information center, act as docent in the interpretive center, lead school group tours, maintain buildings and grounds, research exhibits, organize collections, or tell us about your other skills and interests that might help the End of the Oregon Trail in a whole new way.
