April 25: "Home in Sweden again! We send pictures from our visit on a rainy afternoon. Thank you for the great help!" - Ingvor and Anders Ekholm from Sunne, Sweden

March 22: Brad and Heather played like kids again during spring break weekend at the Visitor Center.

February 3: Dawnella came in with her four daughters, all from Texas. They played for 3 hours and enjoyed visiting with HOC's new volunteer, Jeff.

January 27: This Oregon City family came in with their aunt and sister from New Jersey.

 

January 27: Christine and her darling son and daughter came in from Molalla for some fun.

 

January 27: Megan and her son and daughter from Beavercreek came into Oregon City to spend the day. They also made a stop at Spicer Brothers Produce to get some fruit and vegetables to snack on.

 

December 29: "My time at the End of the Oregon Trail was fun. I did everything from making a candle to dressing up. This is such a GREAT place!"

 

December 18: Local author Susan Butruille and musical group Heartstrings performed songs and read stories for a special holiday event at the Visitor Center. Visitors enjoyed the pioneer-inspired songs from Heartstrings' new Christmas CD and listened to excerpts from Butruille's Women on the Trail series. Holiday cheer, shopping and refreshments were enjoyed by all!

 

 

December 18: The Moore Family from Hillsboro, Oregon came to visit. "Great place to spend time with your family, lots to see and learn!"

 

November 26:  This little pioneer lives in Gladstone, Oregon and is in Kindergarten.

November 11: A mother and daughter from Aloha, OR came in to learn about the End of the Oregon Trail and dress up like the pioneers for a day. 

November 10: We had a great school group in today. Here's what they said: "This is a great place! It helps us understand what it would have been like to travel such a long way. Our fourth graders will be learning history this year."   Standard Christian School Albany, Oregon 

October 8: Local author Sandy Carter presented readings from her book "$1.09 an Hour and Glad to Have it" at the Visitor Center. The book documents the history of the Willamette Falls mill industry and stories from mill workers. Carter is selling her book for $35 at the Visitor Center.

 

September 24: Local musical group Heartstrings performed with author Susan Butruille at the Visitor Center for a special storytelling and book signing event for "Women's Voices on the Trail."

September 14: Danee and Marlene Post, Maxine Steck, Shauna Patrick, and Moira 4 generations;  great grandma, grandma, daughter and granddaughter.

"We are from Pleasant Valley just outside of Placerville... at the "other" end of the Emigrant Trail at "Mormon Corral"  which is now Pleasant Valley." -Written by Maxine of Folsom Ca.

 

September 14: Country Side Elementary (1st - 7th grade) from Spokane. First stop, Whitman Mission, 2nd stop Baker City, last stop the End of the Oregon Trail.

   

  

September 2: Cheryl Hewitt and her family visited and shared their family pioneer story: "Amazingly, the Dave Hewitt family all survived the Oregon Trail. Although they were all captured by native americans as they traveled west of Ft. Boise. They were convinced that they were going to be burned at the stake, but began bargining with their saved beaver skins and ended up almost having to trade their three children, Ryan, Lauren and Brandon. Luckily, the native Americans accepted our horse instead. Unfortunately, they had to leave their wagon and goods behind and continue their jouney on foot." -Written by Cheryl Hewitt

August 31: A group from Denmark, Campus Vejle posed at the Visitor Center. Visitors Christina, Bre and Gabe also had fun posing as pioneers.

 

 August 24: Visitor Center staff grandchildren Bennett, Dominic and Rune had a great time making "egg pie" and playing like a pioneer for a day.

   

These ladies also had a great time playing like a kid again!

August 20: Jim Tompkins visited with the End of the Oregon Trail staff and presented his book, "Oregon City," published by Arcadia Publishing for a book signing event. Here he is enjoying conversation with an attendee to the signing.

August 10: Historic Oregon City staff and partners came together to enjoy a special production of Oklahoma! by the Clackamas Repertory Theatre. The August 10 show benefited the historic Rose Farm in Oregon City. Guests were treated to a complimentary reception provided by the Abernethy Center, musical entertainment by Heartstrings and of course a great show!

 

 

July 30: Sandy Carter's book signing event celebrating her latest book, "$1.09 an hour and glad to have it..." brought a great crowd to the Visitor Center. Here is Sandy's description of the following photos from the event: "One, of course, is the early line of book buyers that formed, and the other is a group of them in conversation about the old times, I suspect. The gesticulating blond is Lisa Paullin, who had brought in her dad, John "Eddie" Paullin and sat him down at the big table. Eddie was mentioned in the book as a union guy who never turned down overtime and made more than the mill manager one year. He had fun chatting with people."


July 28: Shayna submitted this photo entitled "The girls are fixing supper while the boys play checkers."

 July 27: Shane & Shelsea wrote "Fun was had by all at the End of the Oregon Trail."

July 22: A guest from California wrote "I orginally came to the museum in 2006 and believe it was one of the finest museums I had ever seen.  I hope to see it reopen."

July 24: A guest from California wrote "This was a great experience for my first time in Oregon City!"

July 18, 2011: Jan Flynn (Oregon) wrote "Thank you for such a great time. Staff here are A+. Educational for children and adults."

June 21, 2011: Heartstrings musical group played for a group visiting the End of the Oregon Trail at the Visitor Center.  

 

June 4, 2011: Vince and Becky Bailey: "When our group was on vacation in your area, we stopped by and thought that we would only be getting some information on things to do in the area, were we ever wrong. We had so much fun being "kids" again and can't wait to bring the grandkids back one day. You all did a fantastic job of bringing our history to life and creating so many hands on activities for the younger crowd. Thank you for the great directions to get us going as we have never been to OR before, it was so appreciated. Wonderful place, thanks so much!"

June 2, 2011: Bill & Gayle Brown: "We stopped by your wonderful Visitors Center to get information on your area. What a great surprise to find such a wealth of information that led us on many fun adventures. The sites were amazing! Thank you for all your hospitality."

May 11: Clackamas County Tourism Development Council presents the National Tourism Week Trade Show. Booths included Mt. Hood Territory Visitor Center/End of the Oregon Trail, Oregon City Farmers Market, City of Oregon City, Satori Springs Vineyard and more.

   

 

 

 April 17: Jordan came with Lindsay and Rey. They dressed up, made candles and visited with Shelly and Kathi at the Visitor Center.

  

 December 31: Brothers visiting the End of the Oregon Trail supported their Oregon teams while learning about the pioneers. A pair of sisters from Vancouver, WA came to dress like pioneer girls on the Trail, and candle dipping was done by a host family and their German exchange student.
