Welcome to our Volunteers Page!
Our volunteers share directly in the mission of Historic Oregon City, serving visitors and the local community at our various sites. They are involved in a range of activities that seek to preserve our heritage, educate the public and interpret the history of the Oregon Territory, Clackamas County, and Oregon City, the western terminus of the Oregon Trail.
New Opportunities for Volunteers in Historic Oregon City:
The historic sites and museums have formed a Site Support Committee that has endorsed some exciting new projects, programs and events for volunteer opportunities. Please join us in our efforts to improve, beautify and open the City of Oregon City’s museums and attractions.
The following positions are available currently:
**The Oregon State/Mt. Hood Territory Visitor Center needs volunteers to greet visitors for events/group program. The Visitor Center also needs a wood craftsman to help with "Loading the Wagon" project, history interpreters and seamstress to help with period attire for docents.
**Handy man for "Bound for Oregon" video enhancement project at the Visitor Center site
**Fall cleanup with The Clackamas County Master Gardeners in the Heirloom Rose Garden at the End of the Oregon Trail
**Zeus & Hercules: Historic Oregon City has two beautiful oxen for use in our education programs at the End of the Oregon Trail. Our goal is to continue their training so they can perform for our programs on agriculture and animals on the Oregon Trail. We are also looking for members interested in contributing monthly towards hay and feed for the oxen. Please let us know if you are interested in donating towards our “Monthly Feed Program”.
We are currently looking for the following:
A larger yoke, approximate cost is $650.00
Before this winter they will need a 24' by 12' "lean to shelter" - needed are recycled materials and construction labor
Veterinarian services and hay are always welcomed
