Please refer to the frontpage of the website for updates on these displays. The End of the Oregon Trail grounds are open for self-guided tours outside and is a great place for a family picnic. The Visitor Center is currently featuring a display on writer Susan G. Butruille's Women's Voices on the Oregon Trail. Butruille's website highlights the book as "First in her Women's Voices series [which] opens a discussion about what life was like for women in the past in a way which provides the reader with a glimpse into the hardships that women suffered along the trail." Other displays highlight Oregon's Native American communities as well as items for purchase from local businesses and farms working to promote and preserve Oregon's heritage.
The End of the Oregon Trail's cedar carving display by Walt Garvin is an intriguing exhibit for the whole family to experience.
The Heritage Garden features a wide variety of plants, vegetables and heirloom roses commonly used in the 1800s. This beautiful garden is cared for by the OSU Extension Service's Master Gardener program. It remains open for viewing and education.
The End of the Oregon Trail also periodically features Clackamas Heritage Partners' own matching team of Brown Swiss Oxen, Zeus and Hercules. Zeus and Hercules were donated to CHP in 2008 to be used for educational purposes including oxen demonstrations at the Interpretive Center grounds. The Howard family of Mulino, Oregon have been providing a home for the oxen during the year. Please check the front page for updates on future events featuring our oxen team.
